City Building, one of Scotland’s largest construction firms, has been shortlisted for the Vision in Business for the Environment of Scotland (VIBES) Awards 2011.

Now in its twelfth year, the prestigious awards recognise the commitment, actions and achievements of Scottish companies, operating in a variety of sectors, in reducing their impact on the environment.

City Building has successfully delivered new energy-efficient schools and housing and renovated properties throughout Glasgow, while also enabling clients to benefit from reduced gas and electricity consumption.

Via the ground-breaking Glasgow House project, City Building has constructed highly energy-efficient, comfortable prototype homes which deliver a two-thirds reduction in the typical energy costs of a three-bedroom home.

City Building is also training Scotland’s first generation of “renewables” tradespeople with specific qualifications in micro-renewables as part of their apprenticeship programme.

The company has been shortlisted in the Energy category at the awards which will be announced at a special ceremony taking place on 29 November 2011 at The Hub in Castlehill, Edinburgh.

City Building director of operations Graham Paterson said: “We are committed to energy efficiency in our own premises and also in the services we provide as part of our construction and maintenance work for clients.
