Dunfermline's Pavilion To Be Revamped

Work is set to commence on the extension and refurbishment of Dunfermline's Glen Pavilion.

The work is part of a planned investment programme to restore the town's Pittencrieff Park.

The park is owned by Carnegie Dunfermline Trust, who have pledged investment of up to £1million towards the project.

Amongst plans for the site is a 120-seat café together with a linking corridor to the rear of the building to allow the different spaces in the building to be used to much greater effect.

The new cafe is to be built on to the east side of the existing 1920s building with a design reflecting elements of the original Art Deco building in a contemporary way. It will be glazed on two sides, opening on to a south and west facing terrace, offering views of the park and will include a children's play space.

Chair of the Housing & Communities Committee, Councillor Brian Goodall, commented: We are delighted to be working in partnership with the Carnegie Dunfermline Trust to develop the Glen Pavilion, which is a well known and valued asset for both the local community and visitors from further afield.

"This is the latest phase in our ambitious plans for the park, which on the 1st September also saw the joint submission by the project partners of a bid for Heritage Lottery Funding towards further investment of £1.5 million in new lighting and other wider improvements to the park itself."
