Skanska Construction UK has been named as the company expected to win the contract to build a new prison for the north east of Scotland.
The Scottish Prison Service (SPS) announced its intention to award the contract to the construction company sometime in November.
The new HMP Grampian jail, scheduled to open in Peterhead in 2014, will hold about 500 inmates, both male and female, and will replace two older jails in Aberdeen and Peterhead.
Skanska is one of the UK's leading project development and construction groups with a background in construction, development of commercial and residential projects and public-private partnerships.
