Mearns based company Peterkin Homes has gained the prestigious accolade of representing Scotland in the Best New Homes Builder Category in the 2010 Federation of Master Builders (FMB) National Master Builder of the Year Competition.

The winning project was a two-story house in the village of Johnshaven, for client Heather Robertson.

Designed by AB Roger & Young in Brechin the house blends seamlessly with the existing buildings in the old part of the village.

The tight site and narrow streets, not to mention the protected tree within the site provided a challenging work environment for tradesmen and suppliers alike.

Managing Director Vic Peterkin commented: "It is testament to their hard work and craftsmanship that many people walk past this house and not notice that it is brand new. We are especially proud to be representing Scotland at the National Awards next year as we were nominated by our client Heather Robertson."

This year's competition proved to be a hat trick for Peterkin Homes in more ways than one.

They were nominated for three different categories by three different clients, and this is the third time they have won the Scotland Regional title for New Homes since 2005.
