ISG's Joint Venture Targets Northern Opportunities

ISG has entered into a high profile joint venture with Tulloch, resurrecting the name of this iconic Scottish contractor in the North and North East of the country after a five year absence. The business, which will be based in Inverness, is led by David Sutherland and George Fraser, and Andy Mallice, Managing Director of ISG’s Scottish business, and is expected to create a significant boost to the regional economy.

The Tulloch ISG joint venture will target major construction projects in both the public and private sectors throughout the Highlands and Islands, and North-East Scotland, combining the heritage and influence of the Tulloch brand, with the operational capability and expertise of ISG - one of Scotland’s fastest growing main contractors.

David Sutherland, who with George Fraser owns the former Tulloch headquarters of Corrie Lodge in Inverness, where the Tulloch ISG joint venture will be based, said: “There are a range of high quality opportunities across multiple industry sectors within the region and I’m delighted that the Tulloch brand is back and helping deliver projects across our traditional heartland.

“We are confident that, through the positive reputations and strong connections of both businesses, the Tulloch ISG joint venture will act as a catalyst for job creation and play a key role in helping the construction industry to thrive in the area.”

Within Scotland, ISG has secured contracts worth around £60m since it was formed in December 2010. Among its clients are Diageo, the world’s biggest spirits group, and social housing provider Home Group. ISG is quoted on AIM and has a turnover of around £1 billion, with 31 offices worldwide. It recently completed, ahead of schedule and within budget, the iconic London 2012 Velodrome building.

Andy Mallice added: “Strategically the joint venture is an excellent fit for both businesses and importantly provides ISG with visibility and coverage across the whole of Scotland. The pipeline of opportunities in the north of the country is extremely encouraging and given the backing of the renowned Tulloch brand there is a real ambition to make a major impact within this market.

“ISG is committed to utilising the skills and expertise of local businesses wherever it can, and our success within this new market will directly translate into the creation of job opportunities for subcontractors and the local supply chain.”

ISG already employs 70 staff in Scotland and has a supply chain of over 150 sub-contracting firms engaged on projects throughout the country. The contractor is currently working on the construction of a 16,500 square metre bottling hall in Leven as a major part of Diageo’s £90m investment at its Leven site and a multi-million contract to construct a cooperage at Cambus near Alloa, also for Diageo.
