Clackmannanshire Council is the best in Scotland when it comes to deciding planning applications.
The Scottish Government's Planning Performance Statistics latest results show Clackmannanshire continues to decide a higher percentage of the planning applications made in its area within recommended timescales than any other council.
Clackmannanshire achieved an unbeatable 100% of applications decided within the 4 month timescale for major business and industry applications in 2010-11, well above the Scottish average of 35.4%.
The Council was also top in deciding 'non major' application, with a massive 92.6% decided within the two month timescales, compared to the Scottish average of just 66.4%. 94.3% of the non major householder applications - for things like conservatories and attic conversions - were decided within 2 months last year.
Planning Committee convenor Councillor Alastair Campbell said: "I'm delighted that Clackmannanshire has maintained its excellent record of deciding planning applications quickly. We work hard to make planning easy to understand and to help customers proceed smoothly through the planning system."
Portfolio holder for sustainability Councillor Eddie Carrick added: "We've had an above average number of major planning applications in the last year, which shows that Clackmannanshire continues to attract development. I'm glad to say our Planning Team are both thorough and efficient in handling applications - well done."
