City Building Wins Kitchen Contract

Scottish construction firm City Building has won a £170,000 contract to install new kitchens and boilers in Horizon Housing Association properties across the west of Scotland.

The Livingston-based housing association is refitting 70 properties it owns in Denny, Giffnock and Possilpark as part of its planned maintenance programme.

City Building beat of stiff competition to win the contract following a competitive tendering process. Work will begin in late August 2011 and last for two months. It is expected it will take up to one week to complete each property.

Horizon HA managing director Julia Fitzpatrick said: “We are pleased to be working with City Building for the first time, investing in improved homes for our tenants, and with the added benefit of providing opportunities for apprentices to learn new skills.”

City Building managing director Willie Docherty commented: “We are looking forward to working closely with Horizon to deliver this contract on time and to our usual excellent standard.”

At least two apprentices will be involved in every kitchen and boiler installation, providing vital on-the-job training. The company delivers training for 500 construction trade apprentices in Scotland.

City Building’s growing roster of housing association clients include: Glasgow Housing Association; West of Scotland Housing Association; Larkfield Housing Association; Wellhouse Housing Association; Cassiltoun Housing Association and Elderpark Housing Association.
