Minister for Housing and Transport Keith Brown has announced the appointments of Mark Forrest and Alistair Whyte to the Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd Board.
These part-time appointments will be for 3 years and will run from 1 August 2011 to 31 July 2014. These posts are part-time and attract a remuneration of £308 per day for a time commitment of 2/3 days per month.
Mark Forrest has spent nearly forty years in the Logistics, Ports and Shipping Industry. He has held board positions at P&O, PD Ports, Westlink and The Stobart Group and was responsible for strategic planning and the delivery of financial and performance objectives.
He has first-hand experience of running ports and ships in organisations with large and diverse workforces. He has also been responsible for major contract negotiations with blue chip organisations. Mr Forrest holds no other public appointments.
Alistair Whyte has spent 14 years at sea and is a qualified Master Mariner. His career includes senior management positions within the shipping, ferry and ports industries in the UK and overseas. He is currently a Commissioner of Northern Lighthouses and Chairman of Northern Lighthouse Board’s Navigation Committee. For his involvement in the Northern Lighthouse Board he receives £9804 per annum for a commitment of 2/3 days per month. A Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers, Mr Whyte holds no other public appointments.

This is their first term as members and I wish them every success. We are committed to improving essential ferry services to Scotland’s remote and island communities and these new appointments to Caledonian Maritime Assets Ltd will help to deliver on that commitment.”
