Plans by Link Housing Association to build 48 new affordable homes in Bishopbriggs have been approved by the East Dunbartonshire Planning Board.
The new houses in Auchinairn Road will provide a range of options for local people who are currently looking for affordable housing.
The consent is for: 9 dwellings with 3 bedroom; 2 dwellings with 2 bedrooms; 1 dwelling with 2 bedrooms suitable for wheelchair user; and 36 flats with 2 bedrooms
Councillor Gordan Low, Chair of the Planning Board, welcomed the decision of the Board and said: “This is an important and welcome development for East Dunbartonshire as it will provide much needed rented housing for local people and help reduce the number of people waiting to move into a home of their own.
“Planning Officers assessed the application against local planning policy and guidance and all material representations raised by objectors were considered.
“It is worth remembering that in the East Dunbartonshire Local Plan 2, the application site is zoned for housing. Previous consent was given for 60 flats on this site but this new consent for 48 flats represents a significant reduction in the scale of the development, mitigating many of the material considerations that would have applied before.”
