A pre-determination hearing was held on 31 May 2011 into the application for planning permission in principle for a tourist retail outlet, tourism orientation centre and hotel at Fordel, by Dalkeith.
A presentation was made by the applicants, Oakridge Property Ltd, of Hardengreen Business Park, Dalkeith.
Objections were heard from Buccleuch Property, Ulrich Loening, of the Loft House, Ormiston Hall, and from Mr. David Murphy on behalf of Dalkeith and District Community Council.
No decisions are taken by councillors at a pre-determination hearing, which is required under the Planning (Scotland) Act 2006 as this proposed development is considered to be significantly contrary to the terms of the Edinburgh and the Lothians Structure Plan and the Midlothian Local Plan.
The application will be reported for decision to the next meeting of Midlothian Council on 28 June 2011.
