Home building industry body Homes for Scotland, whose members build 95% of all new homes built for sale each year as well as an increasingly significant proportion of affordable housing, has warmly welcomed Alex Neil's appointment to the new Scottish Cabinet as Secretary for Infrastructure and Capital Investment.
The organisation's Chief Executive Jonathan Fair said: "We are delighted that Alex Neil continues to have responsibility for housing. He has an excellent understanding of the support that is required for our sector and the massive benefits which can arise from an increase in housing production.
"We look forward, literally, to building on the momentum generated during the last four years and working with Mr Neil on the development of a Mortgage Indemnity Guarantee and promised review of new Building Standards proposals."
