A well attended joint landlord Housing Conference held on 19th April provided a big hit.

The invited tenants, residents and staff of Forth Valley landlords Clackmannanshire Council, Falkirk Council, Link, Ochil View and Paragon Housing Associations met up in Falkirk Municipal Buildings to discuss the Scottish Government’s proposals for a Scottish Social Housing Charter and other housing issues.

The Charter sets out the outcomes and standards that all social landlords should achieve for the customers they serve and there was discussion on its progress and of how tenants can influence the process.

Cllr Jim Blackwood, Convener of Housing and Social; Care said: "There was great support from across all our communities and there was a great deal to be learned from everyone involved.

"We’re looking forward to working with these groups and individuals in the future as they help us to shape how we deliver our services."

Another well received session at the Conference was a one person play, performed by Naomi Breeze of Breeze Productions, on antisocial behaviour and how it affects people. It looked at this from both sides and aimed to create a better understanding of the complex issues involved.

One participant said: “I thought the play was really good –it was very emotional and it helped me to think about how things that happen in people’s lives can influence their behaviour. It also showed that things like communicating with your neighbours can improve situations.”
