North Lanarkshire are starting another phase of works on the new roundabout at the junction of Hamilton Road and Bellshill Road.
Designed as part of the Bellshill Town Centre Action Plan, the project will improve traffic flow through the town and help improve road safety in the Hamilton Road area.
Some preparation work has already been carried out on the land adjacent to the roundabout, but the next phases will require works on the carriageway. This will involve the introduction of a traffic management system in the vicinity of the works, which are programmed for five weeks.
This phase will begin on Tuesday 3 May and last for approximately one week. It will involve 24 hour traffic management on both slip roads from the A725, Hamilton Road and Bellshill Road, to minimise disruption to the travelling public.
Further phases of traffic management will follow on consecutively from this initial phase. The work is programmed to take five weeks and should be complete by mid-June.
The council aim is to minimise disruption to traffic and reopen the road as soon as possible to all users.
