Assistant Site Manager Is Stacey’s New Deal

When Apollo Scotland’s newly appointed Assistant Site Manager, Stacey Haggerty, came to the company via Job Centre Plus for a two week New Deal work placement, the idea of following in her father’s footsteps into construction management was far from her thoughts.

But, 18 months on, Stacey has become Apollo’s first female Assistant Site Manager in Scotland; one of 12 across the company, UK wide.

On the successful completion of her work placement, Stacey so impressed her managers, that she was given a permanent position as receptionist ,before going on to become Apollo’s first Tenant Liaison Officer in Scotland, on the company’s Renfrewshire housing refurbishment project; a post for which she had to compete alongside external candidates.

In addition to her new role, Stacey has now also become Apollo’s appointed induction trainer for all new staff joining the company in Scotland.

Apollo Scotland works closely with the Glasgow South West Regeneration Agency, offering work experience placements and mentoring trainees, as part of Apollo’s policy of encouraging local employment and leaving a legacy in the communities where it works.

Stacey said: “I was really grateful to Apollo for giving me the chance to join the company; I never dreamt that I would also have the opportunity to progress to Assistant Site Manager! Construction management is something I’ve always wanted to do, from a really young age. I look forward to learning more, as I progress in the role and I’m determined to make the most of this opportunity.”

Eamonn McGarvey, Apollo’s Regional Director in Scotland, added: “Stacey has been a huge asset to Apollo since the day she joined us. From her role as receptionist, right through to her new promotion, she has impressed colleagues, clients and residents. It is great to be able to tell a success story – and this is one that we expect to continue.”
