Future plans to develop the successful Tenant and Community Participation schemes operating in Angus were approved by the council’s Neighbourhood Services committee on Thursday.
The committee heard that future development of the schemes would see tenants consulted on, and influencing, issues including housing finance, rent setting and investment and financial planning; the impact of changes to the benefits system and other aspects of housing policies.
Convener of Neighbourhood Services, councillor Jim Millar said: “We want to increase levels of tenant participation and involvement in the issues which most affect them, and we will be considering a range of ways to further improve our existing strong links with our tenants’ groups.
“Tenant participation will be taken forward in future by the council’s local community planning staff, as an important and integral part of their co-ordinated work.”
Another report detailing progress, developments and achievements of the council’s Tenant and Participation Strategy 2008-11 was also welcomed and noted by the committee.
