A former primary school in Sighthill, which has been transformed into a new community hub, has been officially opened today.
Gate 55 is in the former Westburn Primary School at 55 Sighthill Road, and offers training rooms, youth and children's services, adult learning and community development services, library and information services, employment advice services, interview spaces as well as facilities for community groups to use.
The centre, developed through a partnership between the City of Edinburgh Council and Stevenson College Edinburgh, provides adults and young people with access to a range of learning and training opportunities in literacy and numeracy, parenting programmes, skills development and accredited learning.
Councillor Ron Cairns, Vice Convener of the Culture and Leisure Committee, said: "Libraries are truly at the heart of the communities they serve and in this new centre at Gate 55, the library services will play an integral role."
