Stretches of the coastal path running from Victoria Park, Arbroath to Auchmithie are still closed, followed a series of landslips at the end of last week.

Angus Council officers closed the coastal path on Friday in the interests of safety and advised members of the public to avoid the area. Following further inspection over the weekend, sections of the path still remain closed.

The council’s roads spokesperson, Councillor David May, said: “We acted swiftly to close the path on safety grounds but we are now working towards re-opening the path on a temporary basis. In discussion with the landowners, The Scottish Wildlife Trust, we will also be looking at longer-term remedial measures and possible realignment of the coastal path.

“Certain areas in the two mile stretch between Seaton Cliffs and Seaton Den remain closed meantime and I ask that, on safety grounds, members of the public observe the signage and barriers along the route, and avoid this stretch in particular.”
