Plans Unveiled For New Mearns Academy

Local residents will be given the chance to find out how the proposed new Mearns Academy will look and feel at two information sessions next week.

Plans for the design of the new school and community facilities that will be housed within the new campus will be on display with opportunities to make comments on what will be available for sport, leisure and more.

Sports and leisure manager Tim Stephen, commented: "The event is open to everyone in the community and will also ensure that representatives of sport, leisure, cultural, library and community groups have an opportunity to discuss the future design with council officers."

Chairman of Aberdeenshire Council's Education, Learning and Leisure Service Councillor Richard Stroud added: "This is an exciting development for Aberdeenshire Council and will be a focal point for the whole community. As well as being a modern education establishment it can also house improved community facilities including a library, large sports hall, community rooms, a modern fitness room and a full size all weather pitch."

Vice chair Councillor Isobel Davidson also commented: "I encourage people to attend these sessions and give their views on the details of this development and ideas for future programming – it's your school and your facilities."
