Owners of former council homes in Stranraer who helped finance local authority repairs to their properties to tackle dampness in housing blocks containing both council and private flats, could be in line for major refunds.
Councillors are considering refunds totalling almost £26,000 to five home owners who contributed to the costs.
The news comes after Dumfries and Galloway Council failed in a bid to force other householders to pay a share of costs.
A total of 13 other residents who owned their homes under the "right to buy" scheme refused to pay, insisting the work was unnecessary.
The council launched court action more than a decade ago to recover repair costs from them, but it finally drew to a close last year without success.
The blocks involved were located in Antrim Avenue, Galloway Avenue, Glenwell Avenue and Old Port Avenue.
