At last the mystery behind the surge in demand for the services of Cairn Estate and Letting Agency’s maintenance team can be revealed – and it’s not been the damaging effects of a long, harsh winter.

The four in question – 24 year old New Zealander Casey Gibson; 32 year old Chris Tulloch from Glasgow, 24 year old Sean Murray from Glasgow and 26 year old Fijian Peni Navu – are all rugby players and are apparently the preferred housewives’ choice to provide all sorts of odd jobs throughout the West of Scotland.

Zoe McClymont, operations manager at Cairn, said: "We were genuinely puzzled by the sudden need for urgent repairs – until we twigged that the vast majority of callers were female – and when more than one caller requested the presence of ‘our hunky handymen’, the penny finally dropped."
