Having already got the year off to a flying start, if the record-breaking number of properties let by Cairn Estate and Letting Agency are anything to go by, Glasgow’s residential property letting market continues to gather pace.
Not only did Cairn more than quadruple the number of properties it let last month than it did a year ago, but last week it let a record-breaking number of properties for a single week – and at breakneck speed.
Susan Collins, head of lettings at Cairn, said: “We let 13 properties in the last week alone – about three times the weekly average for this time of year – and, of these, four properties let within one week of being placed on the market and two let within two weeks.
“There’s no doubt that this surge in demand for properties to let in Glasgow is fuelled partly by the difficulties many first time buyers are currently encountering when seeking to secure a mortgage but, given the level of interest in the market, I would urge prospective tenants to act promptly if they spot a property they fancy in order to avoid missing out on their dream pad.”
And the good news for landlords who commission Cairn to market their properties is that the latest figures from property website s1homes reveal that, on average, Cairn properties listed on the website generate more than four times as many responses than the average for Glasgow-listed rental properties.
“That’s why more and more landlords are appointing Cairn to find them suitable tenants,” said Collins. “And that’s why more and more tenants are logging onto our website to find themselves a home quicker than ever before.”
Glasgow-based Cairn is much more than ‘just an estate agent’. In fact it is the only agent that sells investment properties, lets flats, penthouses, homes or student flats, adds value by undertaking repair works, has a database of clients seeking access to buy to lets and property portfolios and sources properties for clients, whether homes or student flats.
