The Scottish Borders Council has announced that works will shortly begin in readiness for the trial one-way system within Kelso town centre.
The preparatory works are due to start during the week commencing 14 February 2011 and will take around four weeks to complete. The works will see the establishment of temporary signing and lining to facilitate the trial along with minor alterations to certain footways within the town centre.
Subject to progress with the preparatory works, it is anticipated that the trial one-way system will be operational by early March 2011. Further details and plans will be issued when the exact date is known. Changeover to the trial one-way system is likely to be on a Sunday morning when there are fewer cars and pedestrians in the town centre.
This trial is part of the global Kelso Town Centre Traffic Management project which is being promoted to simplify traffic movements and to provide improvements for pedestrians, shoppers and motorists using the town centre.
