Council Worker Suspended Over Housing Scam

Police are investigating a council worker linked to a £4m housing repair scam.

The Edinburgh City Council employee has been suspended following claims he received money from a firm after awarding them contracts without putting the work out to tender.

It is also alleged work was overcharged for and repairs were not "up to standard".

A spokesperson from the council said they took "appropriate action" following the investigation.
