A £1.4 million state-of-the-art bus station is now complete at Greenock.
The station has eight new stances on Kilblain Street and another five on Nicholson Street.
Councillor David Wilson, Inverclyde’s representative with SPT said he was delighted to declare the facility now open.
He said: "People are using buses more and more in Inverclyde both within the area and on the regular services to and from Glasgow. The brand new bus station will complement the modern bus fleet we have operating and will enhance the regeneration we are seeing in Greenock town centre. We have a very good relationship with SPT and this significant investment reflects their commitment to Greenock and Inverclyde.”
The new layout improves passenger circulation areas through clearly defined pedestrian walkways and help separate passengers from the bus operational areas.
The extensive use of glass makes the passenger waiting areas light and spacious. Electronic passenger information screens give travellers information about bus arrivals and departures.
