An application of the weld-free Roll-a-Flex system has just been completed to seal 176 sunpipes into the roof of one of Sainsburys’ brand new stores being constructed at Prestwick near Glasgow.
M.R. Site Services’ Roll-a-Flex was chosen by Euroclad, to seal the openings on its Secret Fix SF500 roof which was specified for the store when a high performance, low pitch roof was required by Sainsburys.
Colin Devon, Director of Thomas Devon & Co external envelope contractors commented: “At 6,000m², this was one of the largest Sainsbury new builds in Scotland. The programme on the project was extremely tight and we only had 4-5 weeks to complete the entire building envelope. “To achieve the programme MR Site Services had to follow on directly behind our operatives literally sealing the Sunpipes as soon as each section of the Euroclad roof had been laid. On such high profile projects it is imperative to have a good supply chain. Melvyn`s team were excellent and ensured that the operation went extremely smoothly.”
Melvyn Rowberry, Managing Director of M.R.Site Services also explained: “This was a very challenging task for the company as it was done during the worst winter in living memory. Yet our team completed the job on time and on budget.”
Roll-a-Flex is a weld-free method of adding external details to roofs and walls, regardless of material. Fully guaranteed, Roll-a-Flex provides a completely watertight seal on any profile or surface finish for a vast range of details including hips, valleys, soakers and openings.
Applied by M.R. Site Services’ team of engineers, Roll-a-Flex is a quick to apply, cold acrylic membrane which poses no risk of fire to roof insulation materials and is fast curing, being rainproof after just 30 minutes.
Tough and seamless, it offers first class fire resistance and meets appropriate UK and European construction standards. It is also resistant to flexural fatique and can be painted if required to match or complement existing roof materials. Roll-a-Flex forms part of M.R. Site Services’ range of roofing products and specialist applications which complement its on-site aluminium welding services.
