Scottish Ministers are seeking views on changes to plans designed to safeguard a Morayshire town from the impact of flooding.

Environment Minister Roseanna Cunningham has launched a public consultation on a crucial modification to the Elgin Flood Prevention Scheme and has written to some 200 organisations and individuals directly affected by the planned change.

Ms Cunningham said: "Over the years Elgin has been blighted by flooding, which brings worry and heartbreak to the businesses and families caught in its wake.

"This area is undoubtedly in need of a flood prevention scheme but it is crucial that the right decision is reached to resolve Elgin's flooding problem long-term.

"The proposed modification will amend a flaw in the original scheme.

"We are now on the final stretch and I urge all those with an interest in bringing these defences to fruition play an active part in this consultation."
