FMS Starts Work On £5.5m Contracts

Forfar-based FMS Construction has recently started work on two contacts, jointly worth £5.5 million.

One project is in Dundee, the other in Pitlochry.

The Dundee development, worth £3.5 million, is for 37 flats and 13 houses at Bellfield, opposite the Whitehall Theatre. Although work has barely started, 21 of the flats have been sold off plan to investors buying for the student accommodation market. The project is due to be completed in April next year. FMS Construction is doing the building and Frank Esposito is the developer.

“It is very unusual to have so many properties sold so early in a development so we are delighted that has happened,” said Derek Wann, one of FMS Construction’s two directors.

The other major project which FMS Construction has just started work on is 20 affordable flats for rent in Rieachan Road, Pitlochry for Perthshire Housing Association. The flats are being built on the site of the former Luggie’s Bungalow and opposite PHA's existing Watson Court development, just off the main Atholl Road. The housing association bought the land from FMS Construction with the help of a £140,000 grant from the Scottish government.

The development will consist of four, two apartment , two person flats; 12, three apartment, three person flats and four, three apartment, four person flats. The project is scheduled for completion in February 2011.

FMS Construction, which has just celebrated its 10th anniversary, is part of the Sarkar Group, and is in the process of increasing its workforce at all levels. The company prides itself in offering quality and affordable accommodation, through careful product choice and utilising its own skilled tradesmen to ensure an end product anyone would be proud to own.
