Glasgow-based Parkhead Welding Company has won a contract to help build the Sir Chris Hoy Velodrome for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.

The Company will provide metalwork for the building, to be used for badminton as well as track cycling. They'll also work on the National Indoor Sport Arena.

The firm founded in 1971, applied for the £305,000 contract through the Commonwealth Games Business Portal .

The portal is an online business networking and matching service that publishes both public and private sector Games-related contract opportunities.

Hundreds of millions of pounds of contracts will be available through the portal, with around £140million already advertised and more than 11,000 firms already registered.
