Planning Aid for Scotland (PAS) has published new guidelines for its planning advice service to include, in some cases, business start-ups, social enterprises and development trusts.

The revised guidance recognises their vital role in economic growth and the need to have access to a full range of professional planning advice at the earliest opportunity.

Petra Biberbach, Chief Executive of Planning Aid for Scotland, said: “Planning Aid for Scotland is committed to helping individuals, community groups and others who don’t know how to get involved or how to navigate their way around the planning system.

“Our role is also to ensure that those who can’t afford to pay for professional advice can still afford to do business and contribute to their communities and our vision is to see the planning system enabling appropriate development.

“We are keen to empower small business start-ups, development trusts and social enterprises, as more people recognise the value of our innovative services, from free planning advice, right through to our training and mentoring programmes.”
