Angus Council Neighbourhood Services committee has approved a tender for phase one of the Kirriemuir Hill enhancements.
The works are part of the JM Barrie legacy project, and are a package of significant improvements to the hill.
These include the installation of a new play area with equipment, new picnic tables and seating, road repair works and new signage.
The lowest tender, from Dundee Plant Company Ltd was for £255,579.92.
Councillor Jim Millar, convener of Neighbourhood Services said: "We are pleased that this project is moving forward in the year of the celebrations to mark the 150th anniversary of JM Barrie's birth. These enhancements will be of benefit to both local people and visitors to Angus for many years to come."
