Work Begins At Former Bitumen Factory

Angus Council is due to commence work today at the former Dowrie bitumen works, Elliot, Arbroath.

The contractor for the works is Dundee Plant Company Ltd, Dundee.

Waste materials from the former bitumen factory are now exposed and to enclose these and prevent further erosion, the area is to be protected with further rock armour.

Rock armour deliveries will begin early next week for a period of three weeks, via the West links amenity area.

The rock armour is to be delivered to a drop zone at the top of the West Links, near the mouth of the Elliot Burn, and all lorry movements will be escorted though the West Links by the contractor.

Deliveries will be restricted to Monday to Friday only, with no weekend deliveries permitted, to minimise any inconvenience to the public.
