The dedication to safe working and employee welfare of three contractors has netted them recognition in an annual Dundee council awards scheme.
Muirfield Contracts, Tayside Contracts and Gowrie Contracts have been recognised in the Chartered Institute of Building/Dundee City Council contractor excellence awards 2010.
Started five years ago the awards are made to firms carrying work on behalf of the city council that have gone above beyond the norm in demonstrating good practice in health and safety and public awareness.
The purpose built replacement of Kingspark School on a site adjacent to a secondary school and near housing has netted Muirfield its gong.
Tayside Contracts improvements to Lochee High Street by upgrading roads, pavements and traffic calming measures under testing conditions in which public access had to be maintained to local shops at all times secured their award.
The demolition of two five storey buildings in Hilltown and adjoining shops passed without complaints to either the council or Gowrie Contracts, bringing them recognition in the awards.
