The Alliance is the Scottish Government and Fife Council's preferred development partner for the development of affordable housing across Fife.
Yesterday, the Alliance commemorated the achievement by laying a date stone set into the foundation of its latest development of 56 homes at Scotscraig Drive in Tayport.
The Fife Alliance has been successful over the last four years and this success is largely due to the partnership working between the Alliance HA's and others with an interest in providing affordable housing in Fife. Representatives from each housing association, along with Fife Council, the Scottish Government, and development partners gathered for the event.
In the last four years, the Alliance has built new homes, covering a variety of needs, across Fife, including developments in most of the Housing Market Areas of Fife.
The partnership has also been recognised for its excellence in providing projects that benefit the wider community. Last year, it was short-listed in the prestigious Government Opportunities (GO) Awards set up to recognise excellence within procurement, and in providing benefits to the wider business and social community.
Over the last four years, the Fife Alliance has invested over £113m in the delivery of affordable housing in Fife and this has made a significant contribution to the construction industry, particularly during the current difficult housing market conditions. Other achievements during this period, include, a 100% record in achieving the Secured by Design accreditation standard for all the Alliance projects; over 30% of the housing provided has been designed to meet the particular needs of older people or people with mobility problems.
All residents, who move into a new home, developed by the Alliance, are also surveyed and the current satisfaction levels are demonstrating very high levels of overall satisfaction with their new home, at 90%. As part of the added value that can be gained from the affordable housing programme, various training and employment initiatives have also been developed by the Alliance and this has assisted over 350 people with training and placement opportunities which will assist them to secure future employment.
Douglas Gray, Chairman at Kingdom Housing Association, said: "I'm delighted to be celebrating this achievement, particularly at a project which lies in an area where there is such a significant shortage of good quality affordable housing.
"The success of the Alliance is the result of hard work and close cooperation between the housing association partners, combined with a substantial amount of encouragement and support from Fife Council and the Scottish Government, for which we are very grateful."
