Dumfries and Galloway Council's Building Standards service has been named as the best in Scotland.
Building Standards has also recently achieved the UK Government's Cabinet Office customer service excellence standard.
In a recent audit by the Building Standards Division of the Scottish Government, Dumfries and Galloway achieved an excellent rating in every one of the five categories that local authorities are audited on. Thirty local authorities have previously been audited and Dumfries and Galloway is the first to achieve this outstanding rating.
Councillor Roger Grant, Chairman of the Planning, Housing and Environment Services committee, said: "I'm absolutely delighted by this accolade for our Building Standards team. It's a well deserved reward for the dedication and hard work shown by all members of the team and the excellent leadership of the team. Dumfries and Galloway's Building Standards is now an exemplar and we have set the standard for the other regions of Scotland to aim for."
