The new Loch Leven Community Campus in Kinross has been officially opened by Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond.
The campus, part of the Council's £136 million Investment in Learning Programme, brings together state of the art facilities for school pupils and Kinross-shire residents. It opened its doors to pupils and local people in October and November of last year.
Modern classrooms and teaching resources provides a high-quality learning and teaching environment for pupils and staff. The wide range of facilities for community use include a fitness suite, dance studio, climbing wall, outdoor football, rugby, and hockey pitches, meeting rooms, drama and recording studio and a hall with cinema-style projection.
Staff from a range of agencies are based at the campus to deliver a variety of services on site, or out in the wider community. This includes youth work and adult learning services, as well as community workers and active schools co-ordinators.
The First Minister performed an official opening ceremony and unveiled a brass plaque to mark the occasion. He was also presented with a silver Quaich by the head girl and head boy, Abby Clark and Daniel Brown.
Mr Salmond said: "This innovative new campus gives pupils the opportunity to learn in modern surroundings and benefit from excellent facilities. This will enhance their educational experience as well as providing a valuable resource for the local community to use. Our Curriculum for Excellence will give pupils the skills they need for learning, life and work. Meanwhile the Scottish Government will continue to work with every local authority to deliver better schools for our young people to ensure that they get the most out of education and fulfil their full potential."
