Plans for a £400m overhaul of Glasgow's Subway system are to be pitched to ministers.
Strathclyde Partnership for Transport (SPT) want to secure the significant investment over a 30-year period for new trains, signalling and refurbished stations.
SPT Chair, Councillor Jonathan Findlay, told BBC Scotland: "SPT is pushing for investment in the Subway.
"There is a prepared paper and presentation going to our partnership on 16 April.
"Operating and maintenance costs would be significantly lower in a modernised system and there's no doubt huge savings could be made in the longer term."
