Householders in South Lanarkshire making energy-efficiency improvements to their homes are being offered a discount on their Council Tax.
From April, the council is offering a £75 Council Tax discount for improvement work carried out under a scheme run by Scottish Gas.
Improvement work must be carried out under an approved scheme and at present, Scottish Gas provides the scheme, although other suppliers may be available through approved schemes at a later date.
As it stands, DIY installations are not included in the scheme, and Scottish Gas will be responsible for carrying out the initial survey and the installation for the energy-efficiency improvement work.
The householder will be responsible for paying Scottish Gas for the improvement work and a £75 discount will be applied to the Council Tax account on receipt of certification from Scottish Gas. Improvement work must be carried out in the same financial year that the discount is applied.
