Scoro Solutions Celebrate First Birthday

Scoro Solutions Ltd marks its first year in business this month, having continually defied energy recruitment cut backs and recession, to emerge with double the number of employees and an expansion to larger premises.

The Aberdeen-based Oil and Gas search and recruitment consultancy, fully owned by its Directors Scott Shand and Ross Gatt, has also achieved a healthy first year six figure turnover, surpassing its projected targets six months ahead of schedule.

This achievement is a credit to the determination of the Directors who launched the company in 2009 as aspiring recruitment entrepreneurs with a passion for the energy sector. Their success is even more notable, coming at a time when the energy sector has seen a substantial decline in recruitment activity and increased redundancies.

Scott Shand explains: "We are very pleased with our achievements to date, not just on a personal level but also on our progress in establishing a successful independent energy recruitment company at such a difficult time.

"The recession took a strong hold of the North Sea Oil and Gas sector over the last two years affecting exploration and other operations, with many companies facing real challenges. Subsequent recruitment declines followed for the industry however this opened up opportunities for small to medium enterprises (SME’s) to employ Middle, Senior or Executive level individuals that they wouldn’t normally have had the chance to reach. This was the key to our success last year, with our largest proportion of candidates being placed within the SME arena."

The tail end of 2009 saw the return of stronger Oil prices sitting above $70 per barrel, which has subsequently contributed to the realignment of projects and exploration within the North Sea sector of the industry. This has seen the return of demand for skilled labour within the industry, presenting Scoro Solutions with an opportunity for further success in 2010.

Ross Gatt outlined the plans for Scoro Solution’s next twelve months: "This year is set to be an equally exciting one for us. We are seeing early signs of recovery for the industry, as firms strengthen workforce in preparation for the upturn, adding to our scope for growth and development.

"Quarter 1, 2010 looks positive with the appointment of a technical and engineering recruitment manager further enhancing Scoro's ability to support a range of client requirements. With each of our consultants concentrating on specialist areas, we can offer a more focussed approach to recruitment, with a strong commitment to our executive search service, sourcing the best candidate-company match possible – not just simply plucking a CV from a database. By following this, we are driving what our company vision stands for."
