Mactaggart & Mickel's New Appointments Build On Strong Foundations

House-builder, Mactaggart & Mickel Group, has appointed two senior members of staff.

David Parker joins the company as Mactaggart & Mickel Timber System's external Business Development Manager bringing more than 20 years’ experience in the timber frame sector.

He will have responsibility for overseeing the growth of Timber Systems via the procurement of external sales contracts and the creation of strategic partnerships within the public and private sectors and self build market.

Coatbridge-based David, who joins from Frame Wise Ltd, said: "Mactaggart & Mickel homes has established itself as a strong contender in the private housing market, and looks set to similarly do so in timber systems and external contracting.

"Drawing upon my strong client service principles and considerable experience in handling client needs in the timber systems market, I look forward to playing my part in expanding the timber systems division throughout Scotland."

Keith Swinley, formerly legal and compliance director at Martin Currie Investment Management Ltd, comes on board as a non-executive director of Mactaggart & Mickel Group. The Group comprises divisions in Homes, Timber Systems, Lettings, Commercial Development and Contracting.

Keith's expertise in corporate governance, risk management, corporate legal restructuring and managing acquisitions will strengthen Mactaggart & Mickel's strategic management. The Dundonian will play a key role in the development of the group business strategy.

Swinley is Ayrshire-based, and commented: "As a non-executive director, I aim to ensure my corporate expertise and general business experience makes a positive contribution to the board of what is a vibrant and progressive company. It is very exciting to be joining Mactaggart & Mickel at a time of further growth and expansion."

The firm has been hand-crafting homes for generations and is celebrating its 85th anniversary this year. It is one of Scotland's most successful independent housebuilders employing over 200 people and is part of the City Legacy Consortium which has been awarded the contract to build the athletes' village for the 2014 Commonwealth Games.
