Aberdeen Park And Ride Site Unveiled

Aberdeen City Council is progressing its plans to build a new Park and Ride site on north-western outskirts of the city.

A public consultation event about the plans for the site which will provide parking for nearly 1,000 vehicles, is to be held next Friday [19 February].

The new Park and Ride facility is planned for farm land to the south of the Argyll Road and Dyce Drive junction.

The proposed development, which will cost £12-13million, will include the creation of a dual carriageway link road between the junctions of Argyll Road, Dyce Drive and the A96, where it would also link to the proposed Aberdeen Western Peripheral Route.

The link road will help to support developments in the surrounding commercial area, and support access to the airport as well as easing congestion on Dyce Drive.

The council has not yet lodged a planning application for the site, but is launching a pre-application consultation in line with new planning legislation.

If planning permission is granted, construction could begin in 2012 and be completed in 2013.

The public consultation event will take place at The Carnegie Hall, Skene Place, Dyce, from 11am until 8pm on 19 February.

Anyone who would like to comment on the proposals or who would like more information can do so by calling 01224 522410, writing to Aberdeen City Council, St Nicholas House, Enterprise, Planning and Infrastructure, 1st Floor Roads Design, Broad Street, Aberdeen, or by emailing dyceparkandride@aberdeencity.gov.uk by 26 March.
