Aberdeenshire Council is to enter into discussions with Trump International Golf Links Scotland over the sale of a former car park owned by the council at the Menie Estate, Balmedie.
The decision was made during a meeting of the Formartine Area Committee in Ellon's Kirk Centre this morning.
The matter was discussed in private due to financial information relating to bids submitted by several parties for purchase of the land.
The council decided that the Trump Organisation would be regarded as a 'Special Purchaser' due to the local economic benefits expected to be generated by the golf resort development that has been granted outline permission at Menie.
The Trump Organisation currently has outline planning permission for developing the land as part of the wider golf resort development. The piece of ground is wholly surrounded by land currently owned by the organisation.
Council officers will now begin negotiations with the organisation concerning the sale of the land. As a result, none of the other bids will be progressed.
