Challenge To Trump Golf Plan 'In The Rough'

A pensioner's legal bid to halt the construction of Donald Trump's £1bn golf resort on her land has been denied.

Molly Forbes, 85, from Menie, was seeking an interim interdict over Aberdeenshire Council's decision to grant planning permission for five pockets of land at the Menie Estate.

She was denied in a written ruling at the Court of Session in Edinburgh.

Mrs Forbes has the option of continuing her legal challenge through a judicial review of the planning decisions.

Mr Trump said: "I am honoured by the decision of the court. We are now starting construction on what will soon be the greatest golf course anywhere in the world."

Earlier this week Mrs Forbes son Michael, who owns the land she lives on, branded Mr Trump "the New York clown".

The Trump Organisation will submit a masterplan for its golf and housing scheme by the end of January.

The main contractor for the development is set to be named soon.
