The project will make use of the latest solar panel technology to provide heating for the training pools.

Re-engineering and procurement is underway and the site team is currently working closely with the consultant RSP.

One of the main focuses for the project team will be to enable their hourly paid operatives to take greater responsibility for their works and their part in making the project a success with a target of zero defects and Zero Harm.

Fife Council owns the centre and is investing £17.2m to deliver modern sports and leisure facilities for the community.

A spokesman for Balfour Beatty said: "This is the first contract that the Livingston office has worked with client Barr Construction on for some time and the team is working closely with the Barr site team headed by Danny Matheson to ensure that this is the first of many successful contracts."
