Kirkcaldy town centre is to benefit from a share of the recently announced Scottish government Town Centre Regeneration Fund.

Plans for Kirkcaldy High Street include streetscaping, installation of Wi-Fi, public realm improvements, better lighting and new signage.

The £2 million award will form part of an overall £4 million project to enhance the High Street and improve the corridor from the High Street to the bus and railway stations.

A public exhibition will be on display from today until Friday 18 December 2009 at 2 Whytescauseway (next to Burtons), just off Kirkcaldy High Street.

This exhibition describes Phase 2 of improvement works for the High Street from Kirk Wynd to Whytehouse Avenue, which are planned for 2010. Phase 1 of the works, from Port Brae to Kirk Wynd, was completed in 2008.

Transportation Services staff will be available at the exhibition to answer any questions on Thursday 10 and Thursday 17 December 2009 from 10am-5pm.

Cllr. Alice Soper, Chair of the Kirkcaldy Area Committee, said: "We'd encourage as many people as possible to come along and give us your views."
