Hospital Gets £10m Revamp

Construction News Image
The go-ahead has been given for a £10 million modernisation of Cupar's Adamson Hospital.

The whole scale refurbishment is set to create a 'one stop shop' to meet the healthcare needs of residents in Cupar and the surrounding area.

This will include consultant outpatient services, a minor injuries service, diagnostic services such as X-ray and ultrasound, physiotherapy and paediatric services.

The site will also offer enhanced GP services, including nurse and allied health professional led clinics, speech and language therapy and podiatry. A new dental service at the site will be retained, adding to the range of services concentrated at the Adamson.

This project is being led by the Glenrothes and North East Fife Community Health Partnership (CHP).

Enabling work has already begun at the hospital site and is due to be completed in October 2011.

Public Health Minister Shona Robison said: "This £10 million refurbishment will transform the Adamson Hospital, creating a state-of-the-art facility bringing together a broad mix of health services.

"This exciting and much anticipated project will significantly enhance local healthcare and give the people of Cupar and North East Fife a hospital to be proud of."

The full business case for the modernisation and redesign of the Adamson Hospital was approved by the Scottish Government's Capital Investment Group (CIG) on November 3, 2009. All capital projects with a value in excess of £5 million need to gain approval of the CIG to proceed.
