Safedem 'Demolish' Competition

A Scottish demolition company has won two prestigous categories at the International Demolition Awards.

Safedem, the only Scottish company to be shortlisted, picked up the Explosive Demolition Award and the top award - Demolition Company of the Year Award.

The awards were handed out at a ceremony held in Amsterdam on the 6th November.

The Explosives Award was for the demolition of Broomview House in Edinburgh, an extremely complicated structure, which the judges felt Safedem had applied innovative explosives techniques to bring the building down with great skill and precision.

In the top category, Company of the Year Award, Safedem saw off challenges from companies from England, France, Italy, Germany, Russia and the USA.

The Award was in recognition of the firm's strong business growth in a challenging economic environment and in particular for the company’s investment in safety training, community liaison and partnering approach which has led to a diverse order book.
