Prime Minister Gordon Brown officially opened the £3.5m Evans Business Centre on John Smith Business Park on Saturday.

The state-of-the-art executive office development provides business accommodation for up to 55 of Kirkcaldy's new and growing enterprises.

Mr Brown said: "I am delighted to be here today to officially open this new state-of-the-art business centre which will support many hundreds of jobs in my constituency. I want to congratulate Evans Easyspace for this major investment in the John Smith Business Park and for their continued commitment to the Fife economy supporting business of all types and size.

"I also want to thank Fife Council for their continued development of this site. Fife works best when Fife works together and this is another good example of a public/private partnership approach that will pay dividends for business and individuals."

Tom Stokes, Evans Easyspace Managing Director, said: "It is a great honour to have Mr Brown perform this official opening ceremony today and we welcome him once again to our prestigious centre. Evans Easyspace is delighted with the success of its newest development here at John Smith Business Park, which opened just a few months ago."

The £3.5m Evans Business Centre will provide 55 serviced offices, ranging in size from 160 sq ft to 560 sq ft, designed to suit the changing needs of developing businesses. This development provides state-of-the-art office space within a growing business community where Evans Easyspace has an established success story at the existing Evans Business Centre in Kirkcaldy and also at Evans Business Centre, Dunfermline.

The Evans Easyspace development will be designed to achieve a BREEAM rating of 'Very Good' for its environmental performance which means that the businesses that choose to locate here can do so with confidence, knowing that they are working in an environmentally approved building.
