Building contractors William Skinner & Son, based in Ayrshire, Scotland have completed a £550,000 contract for Land Securities PLC in Corby, Northamptonshire.
The work involved the stripping out of an existing unit to form a shell, and subsequent sub-division into a ground and first floor shell unit for HSBC Bank, formation of two flats on the upper floor, and contractor design of steel and glazed canopy and formation of three shell units for shops on the ground floor.
The works were carried out by Skinners project manager Jim McCurdy and site manager Ronnie Butcher.
Land Securities (Corby town centre owners) and Corby Borough Council are currently working with Urban Regeneration Company North Northants Development Company (NNDC) (formerly Catalyst Corby), the East Midlands Development Agency (EMDA), the Government Office for the East Midlands (GOEM), English Partnerships and the Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) to regenerate Corby town centre as part of the masterplan for the whole town.
Land Securities is a FTSE 100 company and the largest Real Estate Investment Trust (REIT) in the UK on the basis of equity market capitalisation. It now owns and manages more than 2.7 million m2 of commercial property, from London offices to major shopping centres and out-of-town retail parks.
