Construction News Image
Two North Lanarkshire tenants' have won a year's free rent thanks to paying their rent bills by Direct Debit with North Lanarkshire Council.

Their names were randomly chosen from a list of all North Lanarkshire Council residents who signed up to pay their rent by Direct Debit.

The council encourages residents to pay their rent by Direct Debit as it is a simple and effective way of making regular bill payments that are automatically set up through your bank.

David Shaw, North Lanarkshire Council's Housing Income Manager said: "Using Direct Debit to pay your rent couldn't be easier and gives residents peace of mind knowing that bills will be paid monthly, fortnightly or weekly on a payment day which suits an individual's circumstances. In addition the collection of regular fixed payments allows tenants to manage their household finances more easily.

"Direct Debit payments are not only easy but make payment processing far more efficient for the council and enable residents to be entered into this fabulous draw to win their rent free for a year."

Setting up a Direct Debit is very straightforward – residents simply need to complete an application form including their bank account details and the council will contact them to confirm the date of their first payment. Tenants will then be automatically entered into next year's free prize draw.

Tenants who would like to use Direct Debit as their method for rent payments can obtain application forms from their local First Stop Shop or by visiting the council's website.
