Shetland Islands Council has recently completed the rebuilding of 6 properties in Lerwick which were originally constructed through the Cruden system.
As extensive refurbishment was necessary, the cost effective solution was to completely demolish the houses and rebuild them with a more up to date look.
The design and management of the project has been undertaken by the Housing Department's Asset Management team, in conjunction with consultants, Mott MacDonald.
D.I.T.T. Ltd has been the main contractor on the scheme and they have delivered six homes finished to a high standard.
Further homes in the South Lochside area will be refurbished in a second phase of work which will commence shortly.
The Council has sought to ensure, that the standards achieved through this process, meet (and indeed exceed) the requirements set out under the Scottish Housing Quality Standards. All properties are heated through the town's district heating scheme.
